Four decades ago, breaches opened up across the world, unleashing hordes of strange and powerful monsters called Anathema. Now, the constant threat of these incursions is held back by a growing number of Guardians who awaken the potential to cultivate powers that will help them fight back against the Anathema. Alex isn't one of them. As far as she's concerned, she's a perfectly ordinary human—but that all changes when she finds herself kidnapped by Anathema cultists and stranded in the middle of an incursion. But she doesn't become a Guardian, and instead awakens her latent abilities as a dormant Anathema. Now, she needs to figure out a way to not only survive, but to fight, kill, and get stronger. And to do so, she only sees one way forward: Infiltrate the Guardians.
