Fate was never kind to Shen. Born with a soul weapon so broken it defied classification, he was deemed worthless from the start—rejected by society, mocked by peers, and ultimately barred from the Golden Ascension Gate, the only path to cultivation. While others moved on, building lives within the roles fate had assigned them, Shen remained behind. Alone beneath the heavens, he spent years after years striking at the gate with nothing but his fractured sword and unyielding will. Ridiculed, forgotten, aged by time while the world moved on around him, Shen never stopped swinging. With each blow, he challenged the fate the heavens had written for him. He had no role. No future. No place in this world. So he chose to take one. Even if it meant trying to break a lock that barred him from the path he longed to walk. Even if it meant forcing open a gate meant only for the worthy.  Shen wished nothing more than to defy the heavens' unwelcome interference in shaping his own journey, even if it meant dying while stubbornly clinging to his resolve.
